HB250 Summary

• Provides a 2 percent salary increase for certificated K-12 personnel at city and county school systems and Department of Youth Services School District beginning fiscal year 2014-2015, with increases applied according to experience step on the State Minimum Salary Schedule.

• Grants a 2 percent pay increase to education support personnel (including custodians, bus drivers, and cafeteria workers) at K-12 schools and the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind beginning fiscal year 2014-2015.

• Mandates 2 percent salary increases for employees at two-year postsecondary institutions, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, the Alabama School of Fine Arts, and the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science for fiscal year 2014-2015.

• Requires all salary increases to be paid in full before the end of the applicable fiscal year and provided in addition to any other step increases or local pay increases to which employees are entitled.

• Exempts superintendents, community education part-time employees, salary supplements, National Board bonuses, and JROTC instructor federal pay from the pay increase provisions.
