HB329 Summary

• Amends Section 32-6-1.2 of the Alabama Code to allow veterans to use either a DD Form 214 or a Record and Report of Separation Honorable Discharge Record to prove eligibility for a veteran's driver's license designation.

• Requires the word "veteran" to be displayed on driver's licenses of honorably discharged veterans upon request, with no additional charge beyond the standard license fee.

• Establishes a veteran's nondriver identification card option with the same veteran designation and fee structure, effective January 1, 2015.

• Authorizes the Alabama Department of Public Health to issue certification cards to persons medically diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, which may be presented to law enforcement along with a driver's license.

• Allows the Department of Public Health to collect a reasonable fee for autism spectrum disorder certification cards and to establish rules for required proof of medical diagnosis.
