Amends Section 30-5-2 of the Alabama Code to expand eligibility for protection from abuse orders to include parents of adult defendants and former legal guardians of adult defendants.

Adds a new category (f) to the definition of "plaintiff" allowing parents or former legal guardians of adult defendants to seek protection orders against their adult children.

Maintains existing protections for spouses, former spouses, common-law spouses, persons sharing children, dating partners, and household members in romantic or sexual relationships.

Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval or the date it otherwise becomes law.
