HB472 Summary

• Amends Alabama Code Section 16-60-111.9 to modify interim appointment procedures for executive officers at state educational institutions, including two-year colleges under the State Board of Education.

• Requires boards to post vacancy notices on the Internet and at school campuses for at least 30 calendar days before filling executive officer positions, including job description, qualifications, salary range, and application deadlines.

• Changes interim appointment limits from "not more than two six-month periods" to allow the Chancellor of Postsecondary Education to appoint interim executives for two-year schools for such terms as the Chancellor determines necessary.

• Permits interim or emergency executive officers to be considered for permanent position selection, but prohibits temporary employment experience from counting toward job experience requirements.

• Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
