HB 513 Summary

• Requires operators of websites, online services, online applications, or mobile applications directed to minors to permit registered minor users to remove or request removal of content or information they posted.

• Operators must provide notice to registered minor users that they may remove posted content and must supply clear instructions on how to do so.

• Operators must notify minors that removal does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of content, as third parties may have copied or reposted the material.

• Operators are not required to remove content if federal or state law requires its maintenance, if a third party posted it, if the minor received compensation for providing it, or if the minor failed to follow removal instructions.

• Effective date is the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
