HB60 Summary

• Amends Section 40-12-248, Code of Alabama 1975, regarding annual license taxes and registration fees for truck tractors owned and used by farmers to transport farm products.

• Deletes the existing limitation that restricted farmers to obtaining reduced-rate farm tags for only one truck tractor.

• Allows farmers to obtain reduced-rate farm tags for multiple truck tractors used to transport farm products, with reduced annual license tax and registration fees based on gross vehicle weight.

• Maintains existing reduced fee schedules: maximum $30 for trucks under 30,000 pounds, $85 for trucks 30,001-42,000 pounds, and $250 for trucks over 42,000 pounds.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
