Recognizes Lieutenant Shane Dickinson of the Winfield Police Department as a nominee for the 2014 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, Alabama's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

On July 29, 2013, Lieutenant Dickinson responded while off-duty to a call about a suspicious male at the Hampton Inn in Winfield who displayed a firearm and fled into a wooded area.

After officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by calling upon the suspect to surrender, the suspect began firing upon officers; Lieutenant Dickinson tactically positioned himself and fired upon the suspect, striking him several times and ending the confrontation with no officer or civilian injuries.

Lieutenant Dickinson received the Departmental Certificate of Valor from the Winfield Police Department on March 6, 2014.

Directs that Lieutenant Dickinson receive a copy of the resolution as evidence of the Legislature's admiration and esteem for his dedicated service to the safety and quality of life in Winfield.
