Recognizes Officer Henry Higgins of the Birmingham Police Department as a nominee for the 2014 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

Officer Higgins has served with the Birmingham Police Department for ten years and is assigned to the North Precinct.

On December 1, 2013, Officer Higgins responded to a backup call on I-59 at the I-65 interchange where a male was positioned to jump from a bridge into oncoming traffic.

Officer Higgins and two other officers helped secure both the suicidal male and Officer Demarcus Mitchell, preventing them from falling over the bridge railing onto the interstate below.

Resolution directs that Officer Higgins receive a copy of this resolution as evidence of the legislature's admiration and esteem for his lifesaving actions.
