Commends Deputy Jason Orr of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office as a nominee for the 2014 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement.

On July 17, 2013, Deputy Orr and Deputy Jeff Mulkin, while off duty, responded to a medical emergency on I-65 south near Fultondale when a 53-year-old man from Murfreesboro, Tennessee suffered a suspected heart attack.

The deputies removed the man from his vehicle, found he was not breathing and had no discernible pulse, and administered CPR until paramedics arrived and the man regained his pulse and breathing.

Hospital staff confirmed the man would not have survived without the deputies' efforts; Deputy Orr received the Sheriff's Office Life Saving Medal for this incident.

The Legislature recognizes Deputy Orr's dedicated service and directs that he receive a copy of this resolution as evidence of admiration and esteem.
