Recognizes and honors Officer R.F. Jones of the Montgomery Police Department as a nominee for the 2014 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

On August 12, 2013, Officer Jones and three other officers responded to a suicide attempt call where a man had barricaded himself in an attic with a cable cord around his neck attached to a brace.

The officers gained entry through a side window, located the subject standing on a dresser with the cord around his neck, and engaged him through a critical period while he alternated between removing and replacing the cord and briefly lost consciousness while suspended.

Officer Jones and his fellow officers successfully freed the cord from the brace and saved the subject's life through quick thinking, diligence, and determination, risking their own safety without regard to unknown dangers.

Directs that Officer Jones receive a copy of the resolution as evidence of the legislature's admiration and esteem for his heroic actions.
