Posthumously commends Mr. James Smart Collins of Cusseta for his selection for the 2014 Pioneer Award by the Auburn University Agricultural Alumni Association.

Honors Collins for significant contributions to Alabama agriculture spanning from the early 1930s, including partnership in J.S. Collins Dairy in Montgomery and work at Roanoke Stockyards from the early 1950s to 2007.

Recognizes Collins' service as a dairyman from 1930 to 1944 and cattleman from 1944 to 2009, and his leadership roles in the Alabama Angus Association, Chambers County Farmers Federation, Chambers County Extension Council, and Chambers County Cattlemen's Association.

Acknowledges Collins' mentorship of more than three dozen Auburn University students in cattle farming on Collins Farm since 1973 and his dedication to developing the cattle industry and Alabama agribusiness.

Celebrates Collins as a devoted family man married to Era Clair Collins with three children, five grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
