Commends James W. "Jim" Porter, II, as the newly elected President of the National Rifle Association, recognizing his election during a significant period of gun control debate.

Porter is a Birmingham, Alabama resident with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Alabama (1971) and a Law Degree from Cumberland School of Law, with a career as a litigator and prior NRA legal counsel experience.

Porter previously served the NRA as First Vice President of the Board of Directors (elected 2009), Second Vice President, and President of the NRA Foundation Board of Trustees, continuing a family tradition as the son of former NRA President Irvine C. Porter (1959-1961).

Recognizes Porter's emphasis on the NRA's hunting and conservation components, including his work on Alabama's Forever Wild Land Trust reauthorization and his promotion of responsible gun ownership and Second Amendment defense.

Invites Porter to visit the Alabama House of Representatives on a session day and requests that the Speaker recognize his presence in the balcony.
