Commemorates Dale Franklin King of Opelika for posthumous selection as recipient of the 2014 Pioneer Award by the Auburn University Agricultural Alumni Association.

King joined Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in 1930 and became head of the Poultry Science Department in 1947, advancing the field of poultry science in Alabama.

Recognized for significant research contributions including designing chicken cages and experimenting with artificial light to stimulate egg production, practices still implemented today.

Received Progressive Farmer Magazine Man of the Year in 1955, elected fellow in the Poultry Science Association in 1965, and inducted into Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame in 1971.

House of Representatives posthumously commends King for his accomplishments in agriculture and his role in developing Alabama's poultry industry as a major successful enterprise.
