Commends Dr. Lacy M. Smith, a Family Medicine physician affiliated with Cahaba Medical Care in Centreville, Alabama, for lifesaving actions during a medical emergency.

Dr. Smith was participating in the Mercedes Half-Marathon on February 16, 2014, in Birmingham when she discovered a young female runner who had collapsed near the finish line at Linn Park.

Upon finding the victim's carotid pulse had ceased, Dr. Smith administered CPR and performed full chest compressions for approximately five minutes until emergency medical personnel arrived.

Recognizes Dr. Smith's heroic response, medical expertise, and willingness to prioritize the welfare of a stranger in need during a critical situation.

The Alabama House of Representatives honors and commends Dr. Smith for her outstanding achievement and lifesaving expertise.
