Commends Amanda Whitaker on being selected Miss North Jefferson Area 2014 and will compete in the Miss Alabama contest in June at Samford University as part of Miss America preliminaries.

Amanda Whitaker is a student in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry and a graduate of The University of Alabama with a degree in Biology.

Her Miss America platform is "Changing Lives, One Smile at a Time," focused on promoting children's oral health care and providing dental education and service to children through programs like Colgate's Bright Smiles, Bright Futures.

She will perform a tap dance for the talent portion of the competition.

The House of Representatives honors and commends Amanda Whitaker for her selection and extends best wishes for the Miss Alabama Competition and future endeavors.
