Commends Megan Smith, a Hartselle native and University of Alabama student, on being selected as Miss Center Point 2014.

Smith will compete as Miss Center Point 2014 in the Miss Alabama contest in June at Samford University as part of the Miss America preliminaries.

Smith's competition platform is "Education Renovation: Redefining Classrooms from the Outside In," which addresses inequities in schools and aims to close the education quality gap.

Smith created Unlocked, a student organization advocating awareness of inequity, and spent one month in the Alabama Black Belt constructing an outdoor classroom at Francis Marion High School.

House of Representatives extends deepest admiration and best wishes to Smith for the Miss Alabama Competition and all future endeavors.
