Commends Alabama Department of Public Safety Trooper Tony Brewer as the recipient of the 2014 Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, Alabama's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

Trooper Brewer has served with the Department of Public Safety since February 9, 2003, and is assigned to Troop A, Marion County/Highway Patrol Division/Hamilton Post.

On July 29, 2013, Trooper Brewer responded to a call in Winfield, Alabama, where an armed suspect had attempted to lure a female into a car, escaped custody, and fled into the woods with a firearm.

Trooper Brewer pursued the suspect alone without backup despite knowing the suspect was armed and other officers were approaching, exchanged gunfire with the suspect, and maintained a cover fire position, resulting in the suspect being neutralized and the threat eliminated.

The House of Representatives directs that Trooper Brewer receive a copy of this resolution as evidence of their admiration and esteem for his courage and selfless service in protecting fellow law enforcement officers and the public.
