Recognizes Deputy Jason Orr of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office as a nominee for the 2014 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement.

On July 17, 2013, Deputy Orr and Deputy Jeff Mulkin were off-duty and traveling on I-65 near Fultondale when they responded to a medical emergency involving a man who had suffered a heart attack.

The deputies removed the unresponsive man from his vehicle, determined he was not breathing and had no pulse, and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

The 53-year-old man from Murfreesboro, Tennessee regained his pulse and began breathing after their intervention; hospital staff confirmed he would not have survived without their efforts.

Deputy Orr received the Sheriff's Office Life Saving Medal for this incident and is honored with a copy of this resolution as evidence of the legislature's admiration and esteem.
