Commends Sergeant S.R. Hudson of the Montgomery Police Department as a nominee for the 2014 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement.

Sergeant Hudson and three other officers responded on August 12, 2013, to a suicide attempt where a man had barricaded himself in an attic with a cable cord around his neck attached to a brace.

Officers gained entry through a side window, located a large knife, and found the subject standing on a dresser; the man alternated between removing and replacing the cord and briefly lost consciousness while suspended.

Officers successfully freed the subject from the cable cord and saved his life through quick thinking and determination while working to relieve pressure from the cord.

Directs that Sergeant Hudson receive a copy of the resolution recognizing his extraordinary courage and dedication to duty in protecting life.
