Commends NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville for serving as an engine of economic development and anchor of the aerospace industry in north Alabama, employing nearly 6,000 people across more than 125 cutting-edge facilities with an annual budget of approximately $2.5 billion.

Recognizes the Center's 54-year history of critical contributions to NASA, including developing rockets for the Apollo moon missions, the Space Shuttle propulsion system, Skylab, Spacelab, International Space Station nodes, the Hubble Space Telescope, and the Chandra X-ray Observatory.

Acknowledges Patrick Scheuermann, who was named Director of the Marshall Space Flight Center in September 2012, noting his NASA career since 1988 and prior service as Director of NASA's Stennis Space Center from 2010-2012, including awards for exceptional service and leadership.

Highlights the Center's role in supporting Alabama's workforce development and education, fostering intellectual capital through partnerships with educational institutions and small businesses across the state.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be forwarded to Patrick Scheuermann in recognition of the Center's scientists, engineers, technicians, management, and support personnel.
