Commends Representative Jim McClendon for his longtime service to the people of Alabama and House District 50, which consists of most of St. Clair and some of Shelby Counties.

Recognizes McClendon's professional background as a retired Optometrist with a BS Degree from Birmingham-Southern College and Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston, as well as his service as Assistant Professor at the UAB School of Optometry and selection as Alabama Optometrist of the Year.

Acknowledges his military service in the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps and civic involvement including positions with Springville First United Methodist Church, Davis Lake Fire Department, St. Anne's Home, Alabama Optometric Association, and Jefferson County Health Planning Commission.

Recognizes his legislative work on House Committees including redistricting, service as Chairman of Health, and membership on the Leadership Team.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Representative McClendon in admiration and appreciation, acknowledging his decision not to seek reelection in 2014 with deep regret from his colleagues.
