Resolution mourns the death of Mrs. Alvena Moses Austin and records her passing with deep sadness.

Mrs. Austin was born September 20, 1919, in Birmingham, Alabama, and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Powderly, where she served as pianist for more than 70 years.

She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Miles College in 1953 and a Master's Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, then taught at Powderly Elementary School for 29 years.

Survivors include five children, a sister-in-law, a cousin, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a godchild, extended family, and numerous friends and former students.

The House of Representatives offers this resolution in highest tribute to her life and extends heartfelt sympathy to her family.
