SB115 Summary

• Amends Alabama Code sections 38-4-2, 38-4-4, and 38-11A-2 to include a cohabiting partner's income and resources when determining TANF eligibility and benefit amounts.

• Requires TANF applicants to apply for at least three positions of unsubsidized employment prior to completing the application process and to comply with job search preparation and other employment activities.

• Makes TANF recipients ineligible for cash assistance if they voluntarily terminate employment or refuse employment without good cause.

• Requires recipients to immediately notify the county department if they or their cohabiting partner acquire income or resources exceeding what was reported at application.

• Requires TANF eligibility standards to conform with federal requirements under Title IV, Part A of the Social Security Act.
