SB129 Summary

• Continues the existence and functioning of the Board of Home Medical Equipment Service Providers until October 1, 2018, pursuant to Alabama's Sunset Law.

• Requires annual licensing of home medical equipment service providers, with each location of a multi-location business required to obtain separate licenses.

• Removes requirement that the State Ethics Commission approve travel for out-of-state inspections; travel allowances for out-of-state inspections must instead be provided by the out-of-state applicant.

• Limits out-of-state inspections to no more than two board employees, contractors, or inspectors per visit.

• Allows providers 30 days to appeal inspection failures and provides right to inspection review or new inspection according to board procedures.
