AL SB25

Prohibits courts from compelling any person to provide post-minority education support, including postsecondary education expenses, to individuals who have reached age 19 (Alabama's age of majority).

Applies the prohibition when a person reaches age of majority, becomes self-sufficient, or completes 12th grade, whichever occurs first.

Creates exception allowing courts to order post-minority education support only if the child is mentally or physically disabled at age 19.

Overrides the precedent established in Ex parte Bayliss, 550 So.2d 896 (Ala. 1989), which allowed courts to award post-minority support for educational expenses.

Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
