SB265 Summary

• Authorizes the Department of Revenue to contract with a third party to manufacture and distribute license plates and validation decals instead of having the Department of Corrections produce them.

• Requires that the annual amount distributed to the Department of Corrections for license plate and decal production shall not be reduced except by the cost of material, production, and distribution that would have been saved by outsourcing.

• Continuously appropriates all distributed funds to the Department of Corrections for departmental operations.

• Provides that outsourcing license plate production shall not affect the issuance fees charged by judges of probate or other license plate issuance officials.

• Became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor on March 20, 2014.
