SB268 Summary

• Increases the Alabama Construction Recruitment Institute Board of Directors from three to six voting members.

• Adds the President Pro Tempore of the Senate as an appointing authority to appoint two board members nominated by the Alabama Associated Builders and Contractors and the Subcontractors Association of Alabama.

• Restructures board appointments so that all six members are nominated and submitted by specific construction industry organizations including the Construction Users Roundtable, Alabama State Construction Building Trades, Alabama Associated General Contractors, Alabama Road Builders Association, Alabama Associated Builders and Contractors, and Subcontractors Association of Alabama.

• Simplifies the nomination process by requiring each appointing authority to select from nominees provided by a single recommending organization rather than multiple chapters or groups.

• Became effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
