SB312 Summary

• Amends Section 40-12-30 of the Code of Alabama 1975 regarding motor vehicle dealer licensing and business privilege licenses.

• Requires applicants for new licenses and renewals under Articles 2, 6, 8, and 9 of Chapter 12 of Title 40 to submit either a federal employer identification number or, for sole proprietorships without an EIN, a Social Security number.

• Mandates that the federal employer identification number or Social Security number be included in license information reported to the Department of Revenue by each county.

• Requires all business privilege license application information for new licenses and renewals to be transmitted electronically to the Department of Revenue by the probate judge or other county licensing official.

• Effective date: October 1, 2014.
