SB335 Summary

• Amends Section 22-20A-31 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to expand country-of-origin labeling requirements from catfish to all fish products of the Order of Siluriformes at food service establishments.

• Requires food service establishments to notify consumers of the name and country of origin of any catfish or siluriformes products offered for sale.

• Permits country-of-origin notification by listing on the menu in the same location and font size as the product, or by using signage with minimum dimensions of 93 square inches with one-inch characters posted in conspicuous locations.

• Removes authorization for tabletop display method (previously allowed at minimum 30 square inches per table) as a compliance option.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
