AL SB37

Makes it unlawful for board of trustees members at public institutions of higher education to be financially interested in any contract or transaction affecting the institution's interests.

Prohibits trustees from procuring or participating in procuring the appointment of any relative to positions of financial trust or profit.

Prohibits trustees from influencing the appointment, non-reappointment, retention, dismissal, or compensation of any institution employee except through prescribed procedures.

Violations subject the offending member to removal by the Governor or the board.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
