• Creates the office of State Climatologist within Alabama, with the President of the University of Alabama in Huntsville appointing the State Climatologist and Assistant State Climatologist subject to Governor approval.

• State Climatologist and Assistant may teach up to 6 hours per week of graduate or undergraduate courses related to climatology at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, provided teaching duties do not interfere with their primary responsibilities.

• State Climatologist may appoint assistants with Governor approval to fulfill duties; no university teaching staff or other university employees may receive compensation from State Climatologist funds.

• State Climatologist shall assess climate effects on natural environment, agriculture, land resources, and human health; coordinate climate impact studies; disseminate climate data and information; and establish consultation mechanisms with federal government and other states.

• Act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval.
