SB383 Summary

• Amends Section 41-9-1033 of the Alabama Code to make certain regulatory requirements permissive rather than mandatory for professional wrestling events supervised by the Alabama Athletic Commission.

• Removes the requirement that a physician be continuously present at ringside during professional wrestling matches, making physician presence permissive at professional wrestling events only when the commission requires it under certain conditions.

• Removes the requirement that an ambulance and medical personnel with resuscitation equipment be continuously present at professional wrestling events, making such presence permissive only when the commission requires it.

• Maintains mandatory requirements for professional boxing and mixed martial arts events, including physician examinations, ringside physician presence, inspector presence, health insurance coverage, and ambulance/medical personnel availability.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
