SB40 Summary

• Replaces eight-hour written examinations with board-approved examinations for professional engineer interns, professional engineers, professional land surveyor interns, and professional land surveyors.

• Authorizes the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors to contract with an independent testing agency to prepare, grade, or conduct required examinations.

• Requires the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors to nominate two board members (from a list of three persons) for appointment by the Governor, replacing previous nomination procedures.

• Changes board quorum requirement from not less than three members to a simple majority of the board membership.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
