AL SB470

Prohibits gambling interests and their agents from directly or indirectly contributing money or things of value to candidates for public office, political party committees, or groups organized in support of candidates, political parties, or political action committees in Alabama.

Defines "gambling interest" as any business deriving any portion of its gross annual receipts from gambling activities, including sales of gambling equipment or paraphernalia.

Provides an exception allowing individuals who are candidates for public office and employed by or are agents for a gambling interest to contribute to their own campaigns.

Excludes the bill from Amendment 621 requirements by classifying it as defining a new crime or amending the definition of an existing crime.

Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
