SB 65 Summary

• Reduces telecommunications carrier supervision and inspection fees effective October 1, 2015 for carriers regulated under Section 37-2A-5 subdivisions (1), (2), or (4).

• For fiscal year 2015-2016, fees are reduced by 50 percent of the difference between fees paid in fiscal year 2013-2014 and fees calculated under Section 37-2-41 for 2013-2014.

• For fiscal year 2016-2017, fees are reduced by 100 percent of the same difference calculation, resulting in full transition to Section 37-2-41 fee basis.

• For fiscal year 2017-2018 and subsequent years, carriers must pay supervision and inspection fees as specified in Section 37-2-41, calculated based on gross receipts similar to public transportation companies under Public Service Commission jurisdiction.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and Governor approval.
