SB66 Summary

• Amends Section 36-25-4.3 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to require the State Ethics Commission to redact identifying information from statements of economic interest in its public electronic database.

• The commission shall exclude identifying information (as defined in Section 41-13-7) from any public-accessible electronic database for statements of economic interest filed by public officials or public employees.

• Requires redaction of all identifying information on the public database for statements that were in the database on or before August 1, 2013.

• Maintains existing requirements for the commission to implement an electronic filing system and public-accessible database with search and retrieval capabilities for ethics filings.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
