• Extends mandatory salary differential for state and public education employees called into active duty with the Armed Forces to apply to any active service, not just service during the war on terrorism that commenced in September 2001.

• Extends discretionary salary differential for local government employees called into active duty to apply to any active service, allowing local governing bodies to choose whether to provide the compensation.

• Compensation amount equals the difference between an employee's public salary and lower active duty military base pay, paid under federal statutes 10 U.S.C. § 12301, § 12302, or § 12304.

• Payment duration follows the Uniformed Services Employment Rights Act, 38 U.S.C. § 4312(c), with state and local entities establishing administrative rules and procedures for implementation.

• Effective immediately upon passage and Governor approval.
