SJR17 Summary

• Designates the new bridge on West 4th Street, Highway 82 W, approximately one-half mile from the Prattville Courthouse as the Jim Byard, Jr., Bridge.

• Honors Jim Byard, Jr., who has served as Director of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) since January 2011, overseeing a staff of 200 and managing a $350 million annual budget.

• Recognizes Byard's contributions to economic development, infrastructure projects, community enhancement, workforce development, and disaster recovery coordination following the April 2011 tornadoes.

• Acknowledges Byard's prior service as Prattville mayor, President of the Alabama League of Municipalities (2004-2005), and board member of the National League of Cities (2009-2010).
