• Commemorates 2014 as the 60th anniversary of adding the phrase "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance, which was first introduced on February 10, 1954 by Senator Homer Ferguson (R-MI) and first recited on Flag Day, June 14, 1954.

• Recognizes that the bill's introduction was timed to honor the five-year anniversary of Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty's imprisonment by Communists in Hungary for his sermons exposing Communism's goal to eradicate religion.
