• Commends Nicholas Hilburn, an 18-year-old senior free safety for Vestavia Hills High School football team, for tackling and subduing a purse-snatcher at The Summit shopping center in Birmingham on February 17, 2014.

• Hilburn apprehended a 29-year-old purse-snatcher who had robbed a 60-year-old victim, with the stolen purse successfully returned to the victim.

• Hilburn acted without regard to personal danger after witnessing the crime in progress and being encouraged by an off-duty law enforcement officer who was present.

• The resolution recognizes Hilburn's courage and athletic ability as a positive example for youth and commends his selfless actions during a time when youth athletics and teenagers face critical scrutiny.
