SJR7 Summary

• Creates the Alabama-Georgia Joint Legislative Committee composed of three House members appointed by the Speaker of the House and three Senate members (two appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, one by the Senate President Pro Tempore).

• Committee shall meet with Georgia counterparts to discuss and review common issues between the states and seek cooperative solutions to shared problems.

• Committee must report to the Legislature no later than the 10th legislative day of each Regular Session and shall continue to exist from quadrennium to quadrennium.

• Members receive regular legislative compensation, per diem, and travel expenses for committee meeting attendance, paid from legislative appropriations, except when the Legislature is in session or members are receiving other state payments for the same dates.

• Senate Secretary and House Clerk shall provide clerical assistance as requested by the committee chair.
