Honors John Smith of Bessemer, Alabama on his 70th birthday and more than 50 years of gospel music singing locally, statewide, and nationally.

Recognizes Smith's service to Second Avenue Beulah Baptist Church in various capacities including Deacon Board, Trustee Board, Chairman of Finance, Sunday School Teacher, and multiple choirs.

Acknowledges Smith's membership in the United Male Chorus that traveled statewide for more than 25 years and his current memberships in the Jefferson County Male Chorus and Southwest Male Chorus in Birmingham.

Notes Smith's civic involvement as a former member of the George Washington Carver High School Community Action Committee and current trustee for McDonald's Breakfast Club in Bessemer.

Celebrates Smith's 44-year marriage to Santa Smith, his two sons (John Jr. and Darin), daughter (LaSabria Smith Robinson), and six grandchildren.
