Requests the Alabama Disability Leadership Coalition to establish a study committee on family caregiving and long-term support services to provide recommendations to the Governor and Legislature on supporting family caregivers.

An estimated 1.2 million Alabamians provide care to adult relatives or friends, representing approximately 783 hours per year valued at $7.3 billion annually.

The study committee must receive testimony on caregiver needs including designation of caregivers, training, respite services, medical leave policies, and delegation of tasks to nonmedical aides.

The study committee is required to compile an inventory of resources available to family caregivers and issue a report to the Legislature by January 31, 2016, with recommendations for legislative and administrative action.

Alabama's population age 85 and older is projected to reach one million within the next decade, creating significant demand for in-home caregiving support.
