HB127 Summary

• Expands allowable uses of solid waste program fees and charges to include administrative services, maintenance/repair of buildings and roads/bridges used for solid waste services, and other local government programs that utilize solid waste services.

• Authorizes local governing bodies to use income tax refund set-offs as a collection method for delinquent solid waste fees, in addition to existing suspension of service and civil action options.

• Amends Section 22-27-5 of the Code of Alabama 1975 regarding local solid waste program administration and fee collection procedures.

• Updates terminology to reference "local governing body" instead of "county commission or municipality" throughout the statute.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon becoming law by other means.
