Food service establishments cannot advertise or label a food item as catfish unless it is fish classified within the family of Ictaluridae.

Any advertising of catfish or other members of the Order of Siluriformes must state the country of origin if the product was imported from outside the United States, displayed daily.

No catfish or siluriformes product may be offered for sale unless consumers are notified of the product name and country of origin through menu listing, signage, or tabletop display.

Signs must be a minimum of 93 square inches with characters at least one inch in size, posted on a wall in conspicuous locations visible to all patrons; tabletop displays must be at least 30 square inches and placed on each table used for service.

The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
