• Requires all automobile insurance policies to provide coverage when an insured person drives on a road, highway, or street closed due to inclement weather if the insured is a public safety employee or critical needs employee driving to/from work.

• Coverage must be identical to coverage provided when the road is not closed, including liability insurance and property damage coverage.

• Defines "critical needs employee" as a person whose job is to provide lifesaving services or support for those providing lifesaving services.

• Applies only to insurance policies issued after the act's effective date.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
