Each member of the Baldwin County Commission may appoint one administrative secretary, subject to approval by the Baldwin County Commission.

Administrative secretaries are exempt from the county merit system, serve at the pleasure of the appointing commissioner, and may be removed at will.

Compensation for administrative secretaries is set by the Baldwin County Commission, and they are paid alongside other county employees with eligibility for county employee benefits.

Former merit system members who become administrative secretaries retain the right to return to Baldwin County employment under the merit system upon termination, with full service credit for time spent as secretary.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
