Municipal judges or magistrates for the City of Vestavia Hills may assess defendants a $100 warrant recall fee to recall failure to appear warrants arising from municipal ordinance violations.

The warrant recall fee must be paid by the defendant at the time the warrant is recalled and is discretionary—the city is not required to recall any warrant.

All warrant recall fee revenue collected by the City of Vestavia Hills Municipal Court shall be deposited into the City of Vestavia Hills Corrections Fund in accordance with Alabama Code Section 11-47-7.1(a).

The act applies to the City of Vestavia Hills, located in parts of Shelby and Jefferson Counties.

The act became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law, with the House passing it on May 14, 2015, and the Senate on May 21, 2015.
