Imposes a $20 booking fee on each person booked into Cherokee County Detention Center and subsequently convicted of a crime.

Court clerk must enter the fee on the docket sheet and collect it in the same manner and time as court costs, in addition to any fines or other charges.

Revenue from the booking fee goes to Cherokee County Sheriff's Department Law Enforcement Fund for jail operations, training, salaries, equipment, and law enforcement expenses as determined by the sheriff.

Sheriff may withhold funds held by incarcerated persons equal to the booking fee amount and apply them toward payment; any withheld funds must be repaid if charges are dismissed or defendant is acquitted.

District attorney may assist in collecting unpaid fees, and sheriff may contract with collection agencies and pay a portion of fees as collection costs; revenues are supplemental to other funding sources and shall not reduce existing funding.
