Amends Section 45-10-111.01 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to modify compensation for returning officers in Cherokee County only.

Returning officers appointed by the local appointing board, judge of probate, sheriff, and circuit clerk shall receive $10 additional compensation per election.

Returning officers receive mileage reimbursement at the same rate as the state mileage allowance provided in Section 36-7-22 for travel from polling places to the courthouse and return.

The judge of probate determines the number of miles for which returning officers receive mileage payment, with one person per precinct box eligible per federal, state, county, or special election.

Act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval; compensation is in addition to statewide election official compensation under Section 17-6-13.
